All children participate in Physical education lessons. The school uses the nearby facilities of Greenbank, Garston and Picton sports centres to cater for all the sporting needs. The children have 2 hours Physical Education each week, taken with a fully qualified P.E teacher. The children are given experience in many different aspects of sports, such as team games, swimming, gymnastics and many more.
Year Nine Options
GCSE Art and Design
This option is for pupils who wish to create images through exploring a range of materials, informed by a developing understanding of the work of artists from a variety of styles and traditions.
Business Studies
Business Studies has been designed to challenge and stimulate students in both a practical and investigative approach to business situations. It aims to give an understanding of the dynamics of business activity.
Citizenship Studies
This specification is designed to give students the knowledge, understanding and skills, to enable them to participate in society as active citizens of our democracy. It promotes personal and social development enabling students to become more self-confident and responsible both in and beyond the classroom.
Child Development
Students should have an interest in children and the development of the child. Particular emphasis is on family structure, the physiology of pregnancy and the development of a 1 - 5 year old.
English Literature
This course provides a coherent, satisfying and worthwhile course of study for pupils, whether they wish to pursue the study of English Literature beyond GCSE, or whether GCSE will be their last experience of studying the subject.

Geography
To make young people aware of the world around us, the issues we face as a human race and the enviroment impact of people on the planet. Geography enables us to face up to these problems and provide solutions which can assist the lives of everyone on the planet.
ICT
G.C.S.E ICT is aimed at ensuring all students are literate with the basic computer skills. This subject is not optional.
Mathematics
The main aim of this GCSE specification is to promote the teaching and learning of mathematics at Key Stage 4. In particular, the course is found to have a good motivational effect on pupils due to the modular structure. The module results also provide objective information about pupil progress over the two years. Pupils who successfully complete the course, will have a suitable basis for progression to further study in mathematics or related subjects or directly into employment.
Modern World History
This fascinating survey of recent history provides an opportunity for pupils to examine the social, political and economic forces which have shaped today's world. The emphasis on academic rigor, together with the nurturing of key analytical skills, makes it an excellent preparation for higher level study in all disciplines, particulary the Humanities.
Physical Education
Students should have a good level of ability in a range of sporting activities. The course involves the study of the individual with regards to their training and development of skills both physical and psychological. The full course will address a level of understanding of anatomy and physiology and its application to sport. The ability of the student to work with others and an enthusiasm for the subject is essential.
Science
The AQA modular course offers an insight to aspects of all three sciences, biology, physics and chemistry. The course allows pupils to develop their practical based learning along with theory. Its primary aims are to introduce students to science and prepare them for study at A-level.
