Building Firm Foundations -The Early Years Foundation Stage.

The school firmly believes that a structured and solid foundation year's curriculum provides the basis for an education of the highest standards. We aim to provide a carefully structured and exciting curriculum that blends play with more formal styles of learning giving each youngster the chance to develop their key skills.

In line with the Early Years Foundation Curriculum published in May 2008 the school looks to develop the key areas of personal development, communication and language skills, physical development, knowledge of the world around us, problem solving and creative development. We are sensitive to the development of every child's needs as an individual and actively  promote a learning environment that meets those needs.

Each of our teachers is looking to consider the individuals needs and every child receives their own personal education plan that allows them to overcome barriers and stretch their levels of ability.

Children are assessed daily and this is an integral part of the learning and development process. This is done by observation, which will lead to all achievements being celebrated and developing a clear understanding of each child's learning style and what best suits them.

With this each child is prepared in advance for the transition into Key Stage 1 and the Primary Sector of the school. This transition process is ideal as internal meetings between all staff involved in the process allows for the new teacher to know each child before they even start to teach them.
