Everyone has a very enjoyable day; dressing up as their favourite characters, reading and listening to stories, illustrating books and raising money for a literacy charity.
It was an amazing effort by our children to produce the recent homework projects. Part of the rationale behind changing the homework system and reducing the daily homework was so that the children had more opportunity to complete homework in their own way and develop a deeper understanding of the topics they are studying, and from the standard and variation of projects that have come into school it is clear that they have embraced this change and have benefited greatly from it.
The directors and staff have been very impressed with the amount of work completed and the attention to detail. It has been fantastic to see the engagement and pride that the children have shown, and the children’s knowledge and understanding of their work has also clearly improved. It has been wonderful to hear about and see some of the presentations that the children have been giving to their classmates over the past few weeks.
This years’ Winter Gala and Performance was a wonderful event, which had a different feel from previous years. The PTA arranged many different stalls from local authors, personalised Christmas Baubles to a fantastic Tombola. When the show finally started the Kings Leadership Hall was packed to the rafters, with standing room only. An amazing variety show followed, with each class and year group putting on an ‘Act’. From a full circus act from Year 1 to an imaginative performance poem from Year 6. At the end, Year 5, won the evening with the highest scores from the judges and it was well deserved as they had learnt an extended piece on the recorder in only 6 weeks. However all students should be highly praised for their effort. We are already looking forward to next year.
Congratulations to Year 6 pupil, Camilla-Jane, who scored a result that was of the required exceptionally high standard to meet the threshold for a “100% Scholarship Awarded Place” at Merchant Taylors’ School commencing this September 2018.
Here’s some of our photos from our Winter Performance of The Grinch. There are more on display on the 1st floor corridor for all to see. Stop by and have a look when you are next in school!
As you know we often have misplaced uniforms throughout the year so we always recommend that parents clearly label all items at the beginning of term.
For the new school year our PTA is recommending Stamptastic for parents. The Stamptastic labelling kit is a huge time saver when it comes to personalising belongings and comprises an ink pad and an acrylic block stamp, personalised with any name you choose.
The added benefit is that if you purchase any labelling kit from Stamptastic then you are helping to raise funds for our PTA as they will receive a percentage of the price.
Take a look at their website here for online booking and if you order then don’t forget to use the loyalty code L174LE and help raise funds for the PTA.
And don’t forget that the PTA are running a raffle in school for one lucky winner to win a £22 voucher for Stamptastic.
Our first PTA fundraiser will be Thursday October 20th. Pay £1 to come to school in your favourite fancy dress!
There will be a cake sale as well so bring some change along to buy a treat.
Parents please donate baked goods for the sale. You can hand them in at breakfast club on the morning. Auckland College PTA thanks you for your support!!!
