Choosing the right Sixth Form is important. Many students make the mistake of thinking the study demands are similar to thier previous GCSE study, this is not the case. A Level is more demanding and students are expected to place great emphasis on independent study and research into their chosen subjects.
Auckland College Sixth Form has been designed to ensure that students are supported in a small class size with the direct aim of ensuring they receive active learning, which will help to develop individual skills for life.
Each year only a small amount of pupils gain entry to our Sixth Form study, this ensures our class sizes remain small and increases the individual support to our students greatly when compared to alternative Sixth Form centres. Many of our students take advantage of one to one support available to them aimed at ensuring they remain focused and on track.
Our aim is to ensure that this important transition in a young persons life is recognised and nurtured through the next phases on to University and/or successful career opportunities.
Often pupils miss out on vital individual suppport, which results in a failure to gain the right qualifications and entry to a further education. At Auckland College Sixth Form, students are continually assessed to ensure they are on track towards gaining their A Level or AS Level qualifications. All our teaching staff are supportive and genuinely care about getting students on in life. We will offer guidence on the correct study path and University choice.
At Auckland College we believe small is best, this together with a structured school environment, which seeks to reinforce the importance of learning and development of life skills, makes our school an excellent choice for students who would benefit from individual support and mentoring.
