Secondary (Ages 11–16)

Ambitious learning with a global outlook

Our Secondary School offers a personalised, forward-thinking education that prepares pupils not only for exams — but for life.

From Year 7 to Year 11, we nurture academic excellence, independence and ambition within a supportive and inclusive environment. With small class sizes, expert teachers and an internationally recognised curriculum, our pupils leave Auckland College confident, capable and ready for their next step.

A future-focused curriculum

From September 2025, all pupils in our Senior School will study the Pearson Edexcel International GCSE (iGCSE) programme as well as UK GCSEs. This globally respected qualification equips pupils with the skills, knowledge and mindset needed to succeed at A Levels, university and beyond.

The iGCSE curriculum is broad, challenging and internationally relevant, blending subject mastery with real-world application.

What makes our secondary school different?

We combine the structure of traditional learning with the flexibility and care of a small, family-oriented school — allowing every pupil to thrive. Our tailored approach supports pupils to reach their potential both academically and personally.

Key features of our Secondary provision include:

Internationally recognised qualifications: Pupils study Pearson Edexcel iGCSEs, accepted by universities and employers worldwide in addition to UK GCSEs.

Global content: Subjects are taught through a broad, international lens — encouraging pupils to explore global perspectives and cultural contexts.

Skills for life: Our focus on problem-solving, communication, leadership and resilience ensures pupils develop the transferable skills they’ll need in further education and the workplace.

A personalised approach to progression

Every child’s journey is different. That’s why we offer additional academic support and mentoring to help each pupil succeed.

From booster sessions and revision classes to career guidance and university planning, our team is there to guide pupils and families through every stage.

We support international pupils with a clear pathway to higher education in the UK and help local families navigate the next step — whether it’s A Levels, apprenticeships or vocational study.

A student's guide to GCSE options

Within this guide, we aim to give you all of the information you need to know to make the important decisions about your option subjects for your GCSEs.

Beyond the classroom

Learning at Auckland College goes far beyond the exam syllabus. Our enrichment programme offers a wide range of opportunities in sport, STEM, creative arts, enterprise and community leadership. Pupils take part in clubs, trips, performances and school-wide projects that develop confidence, teamwork and new talents.

Care and support that makes a difference

We pride ourselves on knowing every pupil as an individual. With small classes, a strong pastoral team and open communication with families, we create an environment where every child feels seen, heard and supported. Our wraparound care and extended school day give pupils time to reflect, grow and succeed — while supporting busy family life.

Ready for what's next

By the time pupils leave Auckland College, they are well-prepared for the demands of A Levels, university and life beyond school. We develop more than just learners — we shape future citizens, leaders and thinkers ready to contribute to a global society.
