CURRICULUM

Through studying Spanish we aim to foster a lifelong love of languages and develop independent language learning skills through an emphasis on language manipulation, grammar and authentic materials. We aim to give our pupils the skills and confidence to become global citizens in a multicultural world and compete for jobs internationally.

By the end of the year, pupils will be able to demonstrate understanding of and use a range of familiar phrases. They will be able to apply basic grammatical rules and use a dictionary to look up new words.

By the end of the year, pupils will be able to produce and understand short paragraphs from memory on familiar topics. They will be able to give simple opinions, adapt phrases and use connectives. They will recognise and use both present and future tense verbs. They will be able to use context to support them with unfamiliar vocabulary.

By the end of the year, pupils will be able to demonstrate understanding of and produce more detailed texts. They will begin to recognise past, present and future tense sentences and give more complex opinions.

Pupils will follow the Eduqas syllabus and by the end of the year, pupils will be able to understand and produce more complex opinions, longer passages and differing views. They will refer to past, present and future tense. They will translate short passages and read short authentic texts.

Pupils will follow the Eduqas syllabus and by the end of the year, pupils will be able to identify inferred information and unfamiliar words including literary texts. They will be able to translate more difficult structures with increasing accuracy. Pupils will respond to unexpected questions, develop conversations and speak with increasingly accurate pronunciation and intonation.
